Loads of brilliant results from our competitive Agility Zooomies ....
Over the last few weeks a number of us have been to agility shows including BATS, JDA, Dartford and Thames.and there have been some fantastic results ..... but probably the most notable have been:- Anita & Donna getting their first Clear Round Scott & Toffee getting a 2nd place Pauline & Molly also getting a 2nd place Jen & Sam winning out of Grade1 Chris & Tyzer winning two Grade 4 Jumping classes. But well done to everyone!
12th May 2013 Phoebe and Molson go to The London Pet Show ..... Phoebe was the Clumber Spaniel in Discover Dogs in the morning, ably assisted by Mo!! (Yes the oddest looking Clumber most folk have seen!!) And then Mo entered the Golden Oldies Section in the Scruffts Competition .... unfortunately it is not a "skill-based" test (just stand and look old and cute ...) so he was unable to excel. But he thoroughly enjoyed his day out with Phoebs who now seems to be his best mate!! They both did A to Zooom proud meeting and greeting the public with enthusiasm and posing for photos with both young (and some not so young) fans!!
9th and 11th May 2013 Dottie excels at her first two breed shows! She came 2nd in Puppy at Stafford on Thursday and then won Best Puppy and Reserve in Show at Hyde Heath on Saturday. Well done Dot and Anita!
Bank Holiday Weekend (5th & 6th May) Another good weekend for some of our competitive Zooomies!!
At Chesvale Obedience Show on Sunday Kath & Lecter won Pre- Beginners and came 4th in Beginners and Carol & Charlie came 6th in Pre- Beginners and 8th in KC Special Pre-Beginners. Fin tried very hard in A but was a tad exubrant!! Rafe did his stays in a very crowded stay ring and then managed a nice training round in Novice. Chris and Tyzer made their Obedience debut and did a very encouraging training round in Pre-Beginners. Suffice to say that both Digby and Molson "could have tried harder"!!! And Minnie, Freya, Roxy, Nutty and Khali all enjoyed supporting everyone!!
Then on Monday a number of Zoomies went to Vyne Agility Show at Newbury. Again some great results:- Nick and Bruce won their Large Grade 4 Agility taking them in to Grade 5! Tyzer came 5th in his Large Grade 3-5 Jumping and 13th in his Grade 4 Jumping, Fin came 5th in his Large Grade 3 agility and 11th in his Grade 3-5 Jumping and Rafe came 7th to Bruce's win. Anita & Donna ventured back into the ring and would have gone clear had Donna not been surprised by a judge standing in the middle of her ring which made her take her eye off the jump!! Our smaller Zoomies, Toffee, Molly & Sam, all had some good runs and showed promise. And Mo had an absolute ball when he realised that in Anysize he got to jump small jumps!! Well Done Everyone!!
Companion Dog Show - Sunday 21st April The lovely Minnie, accompanied by Rachel, also had a fab weekend at a local Companion Dog Show and won "Most Appealing Bitch" and came 5th in "Triers". Well done Minnie & Rachel!!
Oxhey Obedience Show - 20th April A couple of our agility Zoomies, Digby and Charlie, turned their paws to obedience at Oxhey Obedience Show last weekend. The Brown dog narrowly missed out in the places in both Beginners and Novice and Charlie came 4th after winning a run-off in Pre-Beginners! Well done to Digby & Gilly and Carol & Charlie!
Mango does Irish weaving ..... Sunday, 14th April
Niahm is rightly thrilled as Mango shows that he can now do 12 straight weaves!!!! Well done Niahm and Mango!
Shuttleworth Agility Show 13th/14th April Anita and Donna joined fellow Zoomies at the weekend to make their Agility debut at Shuttleworth! And they did very well despite having to wait nearly all day for their run and by which time it was cold and wet!! The run was going really well (wait on the start line, cross behind on the first tunnel, front cross after jump no. 6 into the second tunnel, over jumps 9 and 10...) and then Donna's "hound heritage" kicked in and she got a whiff of a scent which caused momentary deafness and prevented her going back into the second tunnel on Anita's first (and second and third) command which meant that the judge had to reluctantly give her 5 faults for a refusal!! However after that Team Donna were back on track and completed the course with enthusiasm .... even burrowing her way through the very soggy cloth tunnel!!!
And there were some other great results from their fellow Zoomies too: Alison & Fin - 5th and 6th in Large Grade 3 Jumping and Agility (out of classes of 300+ dogs!!!) Chris & Tyzer - 3rd in Large Grade 4 Jumping Jen & Sammy - 2nd in Small Grade 1 Jumping Ann & Rafe - 2nd in Large Grade 4 Agility and 11th in C. Grade 3&4 Jumping AND ...... Jenny came back to competition after months of injury, Molly stayed in the ring and Toffee completed his first two runs as a "small dog" and managed not to bark at the judges!!!! (ps a big thank you to the photographer who readily agreed to move away outside the ring while Toffee ran!) Well done Everyone!!!
Crufts 2013 Some great results from our "Crafty Zoomies ":- Mandy and Crosby - 3rd Mandy & Dexter - 1st Sarah & Magnus - 2nd and 3rd Sian & Gibson - 2nd Janet & Tink - VHC Well done Everyone!!
